Most families choose to hold a funeral service in the Crematorium chapel before a cremation, but some, particularly those who are members of a Church community, prefer to hold the main service in Church. This can be either before or after a short service of committal at the crematorium.

Your loved one will be brought to the Crematorium by hearse, and we will carefully and respectfully take them into the Chapel and place the coffin on the catafalque, which is a raised platform at the front of the Chapel.

The cremation service can be religious or non-religious and be personalised as you wish with music, readings, hymns and prayers.

The service typically lasts 30-35 minutes, though we can arrange for longer if you wish by booking two concurrent timeslots.

The committal is the final part of the cremation service where traditionally the the curtains close around the coffin, although if you prefer, we can arrange for the for the curtains to stay open until everyone has left the Chapel.

The cremation takes place place at a local Crematorium of your choice.

We have a number of crematoria in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to choose from – if you have not been to any of them before, we can tell you about each so you can decide which one is right for you.

After the cremation has taken place, the ashes can be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance on your behalf. Or they can be returned to you to be interred, scattered or simply taken home.
