For example by opting for a lower cost coffin in our range that offer a simple, respectful and dignified choice.

Rather than using limousines, family members can use their own cars to travel to the crematorium, church or cemetery to save costs.

Flowers can be shop bought or picked from your own garden and arranged beautifully, rather than using a florist which is a more costly option.

If you have a family member or friend who is a confident public speaker you could ask them to lead the service to avoid the cost of a professional celebrant.

Instead of paying for a newspaper obituary notice, you can use our online Funeral Notices to share the details of the funeral with family and friends.

And for the wake you could save money by asking family and friends to contribute to  an item of food each, rather than using a caterer.

There are many ways to personalise a funeral that don’t cost anything, or cost very little.

Music, readings, prayers, eulogies, photographs and stories can all help to make the funeral feel unique and personal to your loved one. You could also ask mourners to wear an item of clothing that is the favourite colour of the deceased.

If you choose a direct cremation, which is a cremation without a service, we can arrange for a favourite piece of music played as the coffin arrives and is placed on the catafalque at the crematorium.

And you can also arrange a really unique and personal gathering or memorial after the cremation at a date and location that has special meaning to your loved one. This could be combined with the scattering or burial of the ashes if appropriate.
